Unipol and the cities of the future

Unipol Gruppo S.p.A. has recently developed the UrbanUp project for the real estate requalification of buildings owned by the Group, in which they aim to enhance some of the most important properties in Italian architecture.

The project, which was born in Milan with the inauguration of Torre Velasca on July 9, 2015, gave rise to the contest “Velasca Project Design – Ideas under the Tower” during which young designers coming from the most prestigious design schools (Politecnico di Milano, Scuola Politecnica di Design, IED and NABA) presented their ideas of innovation of a historic symbol such as Torre Velasca.

The project then continued with initiatives in the area with the aim of highlighting the beauty, the history and the future of some of the icons of the Italian urban landscape.Furthermore it aimed to promote other buildings in other Italian cities such as the Galleria San Federico in Turin, which has been completely restored thanks to the intervention of the Unipol Group.

This vast commercial area designed by architect Federico Canova and engineer Vittorio Bonadè Bottino is a meeting place for many, hence the idea of giving a new impetus and a new life to the Gallery in 2012 respecting its history.

Unipol’s proposals are the confirmation of a real realization of ideas able to put together past and future, tradition and innovation.

Thanks to this innovative project, Unipol lets us relive the history of Italian architecture: talking about the past and showing us a preview of the cities of the future.
