ZUCKERBERG AND CHAN GIVE $10 MILLION FOR RESEARCH
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan gave $10 million for data-driven research.
The donation will be going towards creating the institute for Computational Health Sciences and to back the work of a university professor and biomedical researcher, Atul Butte who will be leading the institute.

MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS GETS INVOLVED WITH PHILANTHROPY
Middle school and high school students are involved with philanthropy through Youth in Philanthropy and the Summer Institute for Youth Leadership. The two programs are offered by the Foundation for Metro West which provide students with philanthropic opportunities.
Youth in Philanthropy is an extracurricular educational program designed for middle school and high school designed for students who are interested in learning about philanthropy and the nonprofit sector. Within the curriculum, students will be equipped with knowledge about nonprofit management, review grant applications, conduct site visits and eventually designate grant funding to organisations of their choosing.
PHILANTHROPY PROFESSIONALS ARE WORKING QUIETLY TO IMPROVE COMMUNITIES
Lafayette College broke ground this year on a $75 million academic complex named after alumnus Kent Rockwell, who has donated to the school more than $35 million.
The estate of Mary Jane Fisher gave $1.1 million to Phoebe Ministries in November 2016 so her friends would continue to receive the high-quality care she enjoyed in her final years.
